Do you get up in the morning thinking “I wish I could sleep longer” ?
What time do you wake up?
How do you start the day?
The way you start your day lays the foundation for what the rest of your day will be like.
In today’s post we are going to talk about your morning ritual, and you are going to get a few idea’s to experiment with to make your day more productive… this is HUGE so pay attention!
Most of us would like to think we are in control of our life…even if sometimes it seems like a bit of controlled chaos.
In my experience by the time 10am hits, the phone starts ringing, texts come in, emails start piling up and the work day for the “average” joe begins.
For top performers on the other hand…they have already been up for 4 + hours.
You see, the quietest time of the day, is in the wee hours of the morning. This is when you can get a head start and set your day up for success by spending time on yourself while everyone else is sleeping.
This is when you need to get up and spend some time on yourself.
Everyone knows that your health and well being needs to be your #1 priority because without either of them you can’t work which means you can’t support your family.
In addition to that, when you are at optimum health and well being levels you work more productively, smarter, get better results, have better relationships and your life is all around better.
The reason why many of people fail in the health/well being category is because they don’t have the discipline or a simple system to help make sure they stay on track and create good habits.
That’s where today’s post comes in. You are about to learn a simple system.
The most important part of the system you are about to learn is that you have to use it first thing in the morning…. and if that means you have to get up early…well get your ass out of bed!
You see, if you wait until later in the day to take care of your own health/well being ….“something” will come up and you won’t take care of yourself. You put yourself on the back burner.
Dinner plans may pop up, an unexpected errand may need to be run, your kid may have missed there ride from school etc… It never fails.
It’s just part of life.
That is why if you get your ass out of bed before everyone else does and take care of you… you can use the rest of the day to take care of your family and work.
Now the system you are about to learn is called SAVERS.
Best part is it is simple (simple is best) and easy to implement.
Experiment with it yourself and try this system for the next 21 days straight and see how it works for you.
A little background: This system was first published in a book (link at end) and is based on the data the author has collected from 1000’s of top performing business individuals regarding their daily habits..
In reviewing his data, the author realized their was a common thread — the top performers in the world all had a morning ritual.
He then grouped all the things they did into 6 major categories and called the system SAVERS.
The author says that if you do all the following 6 items (a collective of the biggest items the most productive people in the world do) first thing in the morning you will have the most productive days possible.
Now let’s dive into the SAVERS morning ritual system.
S – stands for silence- this is from the idea of meditation- it doesn’t have to be long. Just sit in a chair (maybe with a cup of coffee) and be silent for a few minutes…start small and move up (I started at 2 minutes ) .
If you need help with learning how to turn your brain off just use this trick.. Ask yourself what am I going to think next? And then listen. You’ll notice..if even for just a few seconds , you stop thinking.
The silence helps you relax and think clearly, and be refreshed knowing that the day is relaxing. Also you may have a few ideas just “Pop” in your head when you are trying NOT TO THINK.
A– stands for Affirmations- I like to do this in 2 ways. The first way is I write all my goals out. Yes on a piece of paper. This is ALL my goals, big, small, financial, personal, etc.. and I write it in the present tense. I have… I am… I continue… I’m…. etc..
The second way is that I say (or think about) everything I am grateful for. A warm bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, all my fingers/toes, being healthy, my wife etc…
This will put you in a positive, energetic zone to prep you for your day. And the more enthusiastic you say it in your head or out loud the better you’ll feel.
V– stands for visualize. Visualize how you want your day to go. How that phone call is going to go, how in that meeting you are going to get that contract signed, how its going to feel when you close that deal, imagine yourself completing all the tasks on your to-do list for the day… etc..
I also like to add in where I am going to be in 5-10 years. The clothes Ill be wearing, where Ill be, who I am with, what I am carrying, what I’ll own, how that’ll look… down to as much detail as possible.
If you can visualize it, you can achieve it. Athletes use the same technique.
E– stands for exercise. This is a big one. You need to exercise ATLEAST 5-6 times a week for minimum 30 min. An hr if you can.
Go on a walk, do jumping jacks, push-ups, go on a run…do whatever you have to for 30 minutes. Even if it’s just putting your hands in the air and then bringing them back down for 30 minutes straight.
This pumps serotonin into your brain, gets rid of cordisal (stress hormones), will give you energy, and help you think on the top of your toes for the rest of your day. Not to mention the long term health benefits we are all aware of.
R– stands for Read. Read something that will help your business. For myself, I am spending the next 3 months exclusively reading copywriting (sales in print) books in the morning.
This way I can get 1 new idea each morning and then TAKE ACTION on it by implementing it as soon as I start my day (make sure to add it to your to-do list when you read the idea you want to implement)
S– stands for scribing. This is writing out your to-do list. If you have read some of our other posts you will already know we recommend you do this at night as well. Well this is when you review it, add to it (like the idea from reading), make any corrections to it, and put them in order of most important.
That’s it. That’s the system.
This is hands down the best morning ritual system you will find.
If the top performing people do 1 or 2 of these every morning, why not group them all together and see what happens?
The results for me have been staggering.
If you start this ritual at 6am, you will be finished and ready for work by 8am.
Not only that but you get to answer all your emails before anyone else gets started at work, so while you’re making calls for the day, you’ll have return emails coming in from people who are just starting work.
Do this EVERY morning for the next 21 days and you will have the most productive, best days you possibly can. The author says so… and I bet you will adopt it into your life for good if you test it out for 21 days.
